I can upgrade from the stock WM5 to 6 thru the HTC site, but if I need to do a hard reset/"clear storage" will it restore it back to 5? What about the ROM version, will it stay too, or will everything simply go back to fresh out of the box condition?
Thanks!
Thanks for the quick reply schmenge! My reason for asking is that my stock PPC6800 will see my 8GB SDHC card and I am afraid if I update it I won't be able to use it anymore, that I will have to use a standard SD card. Which I have but it's only 2GB. Any thoughts?
I am FAR from an expert on SD card maximums, but here is what I think I know. WM officially supports up to 4gig cards. Other size cards may work, but are not officially supported. There are hacks out that like SDHC.777.cab (search xda-developers - Xda-developers) that many times will allow you to use larger cards.
If your device just happens to work with an 8 gig card you are in good shape. But if HTC has something in the rom to support this you will potentially wipe it out when you flash.
Never thought I'd ever say this, but size doesn't matter. The type of card I can use is what concerns me. The 8GB is SDHC and the 2GB is just a SD.... The loss of gigs is important too of course, but I have 5 or 6 SDHC's I can use, so I guess it comes down to a roll of the dice....
