New and need help.

Okay.. this is probably a really dumb question.. but I've looked over the web and can't seem to find an answer. Maybe it's really that obvious?!

So.. I had a file on my ppc that I last backed up about 2 months ago. since then I edited the file and never got round to re-backing it up.

I just accidently deleted it from my ipaq's main memory. Is there any way I can undelete the file? I've hardly touched the ppc since to avoid overwriting anything.

I heard there were utilities that can access your ppc and recover data via your pc.. is that the only way?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Gee.

Unless you are using a utility like Resco Explorer, which has a recycle bin, there is no way with the regular PPC tools to recover that file. I am personally not aware of any way to do this with a third part utility, but that doesn't mean one does not exist.

Not that it helps you now, but look into a backup program like Resco or Sprite (among many) and you can scheduled unattended backups to prevent this for the future.

Hi,

On a PC, when you delete a file what your really doing is deleting the computers knowledge of where it is stored - the file is still there, but your PC ignores its exsistance untill it requires the space for somthing else and it gets overwritten.

As far as I know, this applies to all storage media on all devices - your phone included. You'll probably have to use a PC to recover the information, simply because its probably safer/more stable than running the app directly from your phone.

I've had a quick browse around - this looks like the best app so far:

Office DocumentsRescue Professional - Recover lost document files from PCs, PDAs, SmartPhones, CD/DVD disks and any other storage devices.

It's shareware so you should be able to do what you need to for free!

Hope this helps!
