Hi, i have a cingular 8525 with WM5 and i found how to add more ringtones but i can't seem to figure out how to add more notification sounds. I want to play my own sounds when i recieve text messages and etc. Anybody know how?
You can make a .wav file and put it in the \windows folder and it should appear as a notifications sound you can then choose. Just be careful to mind your space available, EX: make small .WAV's.
Use audacity to edit the mp3 to 30 seconds or less
the notifications that he wants to change is for texting and what not, for those you can only use .wav files to do this, i recomend searching the web for wav files, there are video games out there (classic arcade) that some of the sounds make cool notifications
I've tried this procedure on my 8525, and I doesn't seem to work for me. I can take the wav files copy and paste them into my WINDOWS/RINGS folder and it will allow me to use them as ringtones; but putting them in the WINDOW folder as is doesn't seem to work for me. Any other suggestions????

that is because they are in the wrong location on the device, they need to be in the windows directory folder, that is the only place that the device will read them from unless you change your registry to default to a different location
putting the .wav files into your windows folder only allows you to have additional sounds for notificatoins and such. ringstones are a sepearte folder which you have already figured out.

thanks for restating exactly what was already posted in this toppic....
Sooooooo Could I delete the 3G_Up file and replace it with another .wav file of my own so that when i turn on my phone it doesn't play that loud ass intro?
No, I don't think that will work. It went knida nuts. I was like the 3G_Up had a play time of 10sec and I replaced it with a file that had a 20sec play time. I will work with it some more.....
AND Does this mean that I can delete the other .wav files to free up space?

I've tried this proceedure and it seems that my registry seems to be directed to another folder, although I did not change anything on my own; How do I check to see were the sounds are being defaulted too? Would u happen 2 know?
not really you can try pluggin in your device to your PC and browsing it that way just sort the files by type and it will put all the file types together
