For the last year or more I've been using Instant Messenger Clients on my Pocket PC to message back and forth with my buddies who live out of town. Although I've used the PPC MSN Messenger, I've continually returned to ICQ for Pocket PC. It seems the Pocket PC version of ICQ has been at Beta 1.0 forever, however it seems to do just about everything I need it to do. It sends and receives messages just fine.
ICQ for Pocket PC is missing some of the functions of the desktop version. It does not allow the transfer of files back and forth. You cannot form a virtual chat room with other ICQ members. And although it does include an SMS messenger function, I have never been able to get it to work. However, looking at the desktop version in comparison, I haven't been able to get SMS on the desktop to work either. I remember reading somewhere that ICQ turned off that function due to abuse, but I haven't seen the confirmed reports.
And how about AIM for Pocket PC? Now this seems to work equally well as ICQ, but I don't have as many friends on it as I do ICQ. Plus, as we reported last year, there is a nagging question over why they charge people through Handango $19.95 for their client, but you can download it here for free?
At any rate, Instant messeging is fun, especially over WiFi. Do you IM using your Pocket PC? If so, what client do you prefer and why?
I use Trillian on my desktop, because it incorporates AIM, Yahoo, MSN and ICQ into one application for all your IM needs. I wonder if there is something similar for the PPC?

The closest I've seen is this verichat client, but something is odd in their description. I can't tell if it actually lets you message back and forth if you are using a PPC with WiFi or if it requires a smartphone.
Anyone else have experience with this?
I use JabberCE, works really well with all the different IM's out there (AIM, ICQ etc). The only thing I notice is that it takes a while to start (the app will startup and appear to be frozen, but it's not).
