Download, save and convert video from YouTube

Here's how you can download a video from YouTube. It surprises me that so many people don't know you can download videos from YouTube onto your hard drive, watch them on your iPod, etc. YouTube has just about every music video ever made.

Step one is to go to the YouTube page where the video is displayed. If you see a page on some random website with a YouTube video on it, you need to go to the YouTube page that shows that video. This can usually be accomplished by clicking on the video itself. Not on the big "Play" button (sideways triangle) in the middle, and not in the little buttons (Play, Pause, etc) or the slider along the bottom, but anywhere on the rest of the video. If the video is playing, clicking right on the image will do it. So if someone embeds a YouTube video on their blog, you usually need to click on the video (not on the buttons along the bottom, and not on the "Play" button in the middle of the video, but anywhere else, on the video itself) in order to go to the YOUTUBE page that shows that video. Once you're on the page that shows the video on the site that the video is hosted by (YouTube), on your browser's address bar, you see a URL (address).

MelodyCan YouTubeRipper is a plug-in for Internet Explorer. MelodyCan supports MP4 and AVI as output formats for video conversion. You can select a desired output format and video size in MelodyCan settings by choosing a suitable encoder for video files. Just click on "Rip YouTube File" button on your Internet Explorer toolbar and the selected video will be saved to your PC in a desired format. The video will download to your hard drive! (To whatever folder you specified). That could take a couple minutes.

What if you want to add this video to your iTunes library, play it on your iPod, or play it on your PSP? You then need to convert it to Mpeg4 format. To do this, I highly recommend MelodyCan Ultra Video version, a great program that converts video so that it plays on the PSP (but the video files it outputs will also play on iPods and other devices). MelodyCan has pretty good instructions, and plenty of information online. It will convert any videos into Mpeg 4 or AVI easily .

I use Ashampoo ClipFisher Ashampoo® ClipFisher

Now it costs $14.99, but, it converts the videos to WMV format so I can watch in on my mogul I convert them to 320X240 at Med quality and it still comes out nice and you can download most flash videos with Realplayer 11 using IE and convert them with ClipFisher too

  • Saves online videos in Flash format (FLV)
  • Converts films to WMV format
  • Breaks down excessive-sized videos by splitting them into smaller units
  • Adjusts the videos’ size and quality to your individual requirements
  • Auto-aspect ratio maintains the correct proportions
  • All settings may be fine-tuned manually

How to Download Youtube/Google Video?

I'd recommend Lenogo Youtube/Google Video Downloader to you,It enables you to download any youtube or google video straight to their hard disk. The program is extremely simple to use. Just browse internet video with standard IE browser, and the program will start downloading the movie and converting it to your desired format automatically.
So I recommend you this tool, you can see detail and free download it here,
If you inserested in it, here is a step by step guide about how to use it:

1. Download Lenogo Youtube/Google Video Downloader and install it.

2. Launch Lenogo Youtube/Google Video Downloader.

3. Click "Add File" button and you'll see a dialog below. If you will download movie from youtube, just select "Add Youtube Video".

4. Please make sure your default explorer is IE.
Just browse YouTube - Broadcast Yourself. (or Google Video) with standard IE browser. When you find desired video files, the program will show a dialog below with the URL of the movies automatically, just click "OK" button for the next step.

5. You may need to change the movie title. To do this, put your desired name into the "Title" edit box. The name will appear as the file name in your iPod.

6. "Save as" is used to save the converted file to a folder in the hard disc. If necessary, click "Browse" button to change the default folder.

7. Now click "Convert" to start converting. The display on the top shows the converting progress. You may also preview the movie in the Preview Display on the right.

8. When the conversion is completed, the folder where you save the converted file automatically opens (you may also open the folder using menu "Edit -> Open Output Folder"). If you will convert another movie, select menu "Edit -> Remove All", and then go to the step 4.

9. Launch iTune and choose "File -> Add File to Library". Choose the .mp4 file you have created, load it on your iPod, and start enjoying your movie now!
