Novii does have an upgrade/fix for it that does make it work...however it only works best with codes that are created by them. If you try to "learn" the code, the range drops. This comes from experience AND speaking with Novii people through emails. It's a nice feature when it works.

You're wrong too The learned infrared codes work exactly like those which you've learned yourself. If the learned codes works not well, it simply does mean that you've performed learning not accurately.
Of course some problem may appear with the newest devices, and mostly the learned codes work better than predefined codes. In this case you have to wait while Novii will release a new version.

LOL...actually you're wrong. I was in constant email with the people from NOVII and their tech rep told me it's common for it to lose some range when you use the learning option on the 8125. They said the average pre existing codes should give u about 10-12 feet from the device, but learned codes on the 8125 tends to knock the distance to 4 feet or less.
Hm-m, it looks very strange. I'm using NoviiRemote since the beginning of 2003. I'm sure that the only reason of lose of range is not accurate learning.
Could you please quote that Novii's message?

No i can't cause it was well over 6 months ago so I don't have the emails anymore. The 2 devices i mimicked by the "learn" process both only worked about 3 feet away. I would love to use the Novii remote but my equipment is older so I have to use the learn option. If u have a way around it then please share.
