You dont need a pocket pc apps. for that. This service is being offered by yahoo.com using SMS(Short Messaging Systems) Mail Alert. You can active it if you want to use the service. Although you might get charge for this service, you might also want to check your local version of yahoo.com in your country if this is available.

Honestly... if I were you I'd go somewhere that offers POP3 or IMAP access for free (like GMail) and configure your iPAQ rx3715 to check every 5 minutes. It would notify you then...

Have a look at www.seven.com
They have a web-based service. You give it the details of your email service, and they poll your account as often as you specify, and then send it to your device via GPRS. I got the trial version working quite easily with my Imate Jam, using a Moscow mobile provider. It looks like it would work with Yahoo if they allow outside clients to address their POP servers. I know google allows this.
The full version costs about $50, I recall. I didn't buy it, not because the product isn't good, but I realised that I preferred to "pull" my email, than to have it pushed to my device.

Unfortunately POP access on Yahoo starts at $19.99 a year. It's amazing that they think they can still do this with free GMail around. Then again people still pay like $23 bucks a month of AOL so who am I to judge...

Tim... I'm sorry to say that I'm one of those that pay for the Yahoo popmail service... :-/

I've been their client since the beginning, and I'm so grateful for their free services during the many years I was overseas, that I decided to cut them some slack. But I'm not going to link their service to my TMobile MDA... my over 10 years old account gets LOTS of mail!

Thanks, Murduck! It looks good... specially the part about the phone looking for your mail when it's in suspended activity (no screen)... I had tried the permanent mail connection with the Treo and my Yahoo account, and it really became annoying because of all the memory my mails took up... so with the MDA I set up the MSN mail that works automatically with my hotmail account (which doesn't get much use, except from family)

Let's see what I end up doing after I've learned the ins and out of my new equipment.

Thanks again, and take care........ Manny
