Natural follow-up: So how much is Visual Studio 2005 then?
I've done absolutely no programming since the mid 90s (and then only simple VB stuff). I would love to try to write an app or two as a hobby.
Would this be a good way to get into the wacky world o' development?

You might not like the sound of this but Visual Studio 2005 costs a pretty penny. You can get it at newegg with an MSDN Professional package for $1,059.95. eek!
If you want... you can see the packages here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...&InnerCata=324
