Testing PocketSkype in Manhattan

I loaded PocketSkype last week and fired it up. Turns out I needed the desktop version in order to register for an account (My username is PocketPCAddict by the way). Well no problem I loaded the desktop version, registered and then transferred the account to my Pocket PC. Anxious to get online and chat with all these other Pocket PC Skypers, I logged on via my iPAQ 2215 over WiFi and started looking for chats. There was around 160,000 people online at the time. So I searched for names like PocketPC, PPC, AXIM, etc. to see if I could find other mobile skypers. Unfortunately, there were only 3-4 people that had names resembling my dozen PPC search terms. I tried connecting with the 3 or 4 but skype reported we weren't buddies - so it wouldn't let me chat. All attempts to get added to these other buddy lists were ignored.
So far, I've tried 4-5 times to establish some sort of communication via Skype and maybe it's just rotten luck, but my experience with PocketSkype has been less than perfect. However if you'd like to read someone who had a better time of it, head over to Wireless-Doc's weblog and read Free VoIP via Skype and Bryant Park.
" it was easy to connect and make calls overseas. I made calls to Germany and Italy. I was also trying to make a contact to Antarctica, but I guess it was too early in the morning, 6 am, to get a response."
Have you had an opportunity to try Skype yet? If so, what were your results?

Yeah, one of our team member at www.todopockepc.com recommended and I installed. One of the problems is that I can't get connected when I'm at work behind an ISA firewall and I one of our users reported that he can't get connected because he is using a proxy server. So far... the best one is Portrait from MS. I would recommend you to try it.
