Is Your MSN Friend Offline? Or Did He Block You?

A new controversial freeware utility has been released for Pocket PC called Msn Status for Pocket PC that lets you find out if the buddies on your MSN messenger list are offline or if they've blocked you. :? Hmmm seems to me that if someone is blocking you, there's probably a good reason and this utility isn't going to help - TAKE A HINT ALREADY!!!
This reminds me of those utilities that allow you to force-add ICQ users to your list even if they have a "authorize" flag on their account.
Have you ever blocked a friend on an IM client and gotten caught? What did they say? If you are blocking people, what do you think of this utility?

Hi Brad,
I just downloaded this utility and must say it is not 100% accurate.
Just tried my personal account while I was offline and it said I was online (!) which I wasn´t. I also tried a friend's account, whose personal computer is right next to mine, and while he went offline.. MSN Status said he was online too.
..mmm
Didn't try a 3rd time. ..

At that rate, it's not even 30% accurate!
I wonder if it might take some time for the logoff to filter down from MSN's server or something...hmmm
Anyone else?

I block people all the time... no one can be expected to be available for conversation at all times... I would not be insulted to find I was blocked.

Why bother blocking....just ignore the IM....they don't have software to see if you REALLY are sitting in front of your computer or not.

sometimes I have IM on for work - we use it for people to ask for help and I have some friends that can not learn to open with a simple statement, so they will say something inappropriate during a presentation.
