Scared of Thunderstorms? Get Lightning Distance Calculator

I remember as a kid when there was a bad thunderstorm, every time you'd see a lightning flash, you'd count "one-thousand one, one-thousand two, etc. " until you heard the crack of thunder. According to folklore, each second equalled the distance of one mile from our location. So if I saw lighting off in the distance, and it was 3 seconds until I heard a thunder boom, that meant the lightning was 3 miles away.
Of course, if there was NO time lag between thunder and lightning flash, that meant hide under the bed!

Now you can get an ever so exact measurement of how far off the storm is so you can make necessary preparations for hiding. :P Lightning Distance Calculator is a freeware app that will figure it out for you.
Know how far the lightning is! Click the Navigation button when you see the lightning, then click it again when you hear the thunder. The calculator provides time interval between the lightning and the thunder and the distance to the lightning. The Lightning Distance Calculator is completely FREE.

Of course I would expect that the application detects that if the second navigation button is not hit within 1 minute or so...then....The lightening has struck you!

Maybe I'll release a program called "Tornado detector". It will be one button that you push. It says "Push button when you are spinning."
When the button is pushed you get a message box that says "Tornado detected!"
