wm03hotfix and iPAQ 4150

Last year when I was using iPAQ 2210, I discovered wm03hotfix and applied it w/o any problem. Recently I switched to iPAQ 4150 (both iPAQ's have Traditional Chinese OS in them) but found that there'll be an error message when running wm03hotfix. Something like this must be run on WM03 ver 4.20.18 or similar. I checked the About page on 4150 and found it to be ver 4.20.0 (build 13252). I don't have the 2210 now, but I don't think 2210 will have a newer version of OS than 4150.

Sorry for the long message above. I'd like to ask, is there anyone here using wm03hotfix on 4150 w/o problem? Or anyone can confirm that the database entries problem after reset is solved on 4150? Thank you very much in advance.

Hi Thomas,
Can you tell me which hotfix? Maybe post a link? I do know there was a beta hotfix floating around that didn't do all that much -- but before I can answer, I would need to know which one

Brad,
Please read the info on http://msmobiles.com/news.php/1159.html
The fix is actually provided by a German site called xscale.de

Oh, Ok, here is what I recommend. Grab the fix from Scarybear: http://www.scarybearsoftware.com/ppc_cn_overview.html
they have one that you run manually and one you can put in the startup folder that runs on every reboot.
They update their fix frequently and it does a great job.
Hope this helps,
Brad

Brad,
Thanks a lot for the link. I tried the manual one and couldn't find any entries in red. I soft-resetted the device many times, and didn't see any event increase. But I did have three events as described by the tool, and got them cleared. Maybe this is already fixed on 4150? What device are you using? Could you please ask someone you know who's using 4150 to verify this? Thank you very much.

Thomas,
I'm using the 2215...BUT. you won't notice the items in red EVERY time. I only see them once or twice a week. mainly they are clocknot events that pop up. I have no idea the where or why it occurs like this :?

Brad,
Thanks a lot. I'll be more patient and wait for a few more days. I know it's just a small executable file. But I don't want to put unnecessary files on my iPAQ.

Sure thing
Let me know how it works out for you. I know what you mean about space, I went and uninstalled a bunch of stuff I haven't used in the last 3 weeks from mine today.
But I use scarybear's fix about every day.
