The App No One Needed Is Improved for The Enterprise

Network Associates hands enterprises Pocket PC protection
We've had quite a few discussions about whether the Pocket PC needs a virus scanner or not. We haven't heard of any virii being written for the Pocket PC nor have there been many reports of a PPC virus being found in the wild. However, that isn't stopping the big companies from making anti-virus software for the Pocket PC. Network associates has just released an Enterprise version of their Pocket PC Anti-virus protection named McAfee VirusScan PDA Enterprise.
Network Associates believes it is shutting the door on viruses for pocket devices by handing organizations its McAfee VirusScan PDA Enterprise, which will provide enterprises anti-virus protection for Microsoft Pocket PC and Windows Mobile devices.
"The number one benefit of our solution over competitor products is in my view and from channel partners I have already talked to, is the fact it can be managed via our McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO). It manages all of the platforms on one single console, one single environment -- this is absolutely huge," Brand said.

Hmmm...if there is any truth to the rumor that virus scanning companies actually write and distribute viruses, we might actually see one in the next year.

Good Scrabble word.

Quote:
virii
Now there's a good scrabble word. I would never have known the plural version of virus until I saw this.

On the virus note

From CNN:
Bagle' e-mail worm spreading fast
A new Internet virus was spreading fast throughout Asia, Australia and Europe but computer security experts were divided on the seriousness of the threat from the "Bagle" worm.
The "Bagle" or "Beagle" worm arrives in an e-mail with the subject "hi" and the word "test" in the message body. If the accompanying attachment is executed, the worm is unleashed and tries to send itself to all e-mails listed in the user's address book.
Sometimes the attachment is designed to look like a Microsoft calculator, said David Perry, spokesman for antivirus software firm Trend Micro Inc.
The virus only affects machines running Microsoft Windows operating systems.

Just to clarify though...this isn't a virus that will affect Pocket PCs.
