One way to save on long distance is to use one of those long 10-1022xx number services. However, I never use them. Why? Because I don't want to spend 10 minutes dialing a number, listening to voice prompts, and hearing the inevitable busy signal when I finally get through!
Well, today I found this little app (Long Distance Dialer)while browsing Handango that promises to do away with all of that. It lets you enter the calling card info one time into your Pocket PC and then use a dropdown from your contact list to use it from that point forward The cheapest way to call long distance is to use a calling card or service rather than using your cellular company long distance. All you should do is save the information of the prepaid calling card or service for the first time on this application. You will be able to dial any of the numbers on your contact list through the Dial Using.
It costs $4.99 for the full version but there is a trial available.
Ya know, speaking of long distance calling. Have you ever looked into VOIP phone service (like that of Vonage and 8x8)? Apparently, it's super cheap and it's expected to really take off this year... I'm at the point of trying it out.
Is anyone using VOIP out there? I'd love to hear any feedback on the subject.
