8125 or WM5 Conundrum...

Recently my Cingular 8125 crapped the bed. I don't know even how to explain it, but here goes...

Suddenly, one night I could not use my keyboard, Green send, Red End, up/down/left/right or center button, or hotkeys. I could still use the keyboard using the touch pad (or so I thought - I could not use the arrow buttons or delete button). I could use the Comm Manager button, the voice key button, and the camera and power buttons. When my screen would go blank after inactivity, I have always tapped the power button on top to "turn on" the screen. Now, when I do that, Mobile IE automatically comes up. The keys I mentioned above do not work.

Now, if I go to comm manager, and then close it out, everything works normal. I can navigate using the keyboard and buttons on the front of the phone. However, if the screen goes blank, and I turn it back on, or if someone calls, the same thing happens - IE automatically loads up, no keys work, etc. And then it all starts over.

If I leave the phone on for a little bit, IE automatically pops up even if I am in another application or doing something else. The longer I leave the phone on, the more frequent it becomes. It gets to the point that if I hit the start menu, it pops up but immediately closes because IE has "reopened." If I go to the comm center, IE automatically opens back up on top. If I close the IE window, it automatically pops back up.

The only thing I've done that I think could have possibly done this is I tried upgrading my old Gmail MIDlet (1.1.0) to the 1.5.0 version. After I did that, the program never showed up in the MIDlet manager and I can't find the old or new one anywhere on my storage card or my hard drive. However, the weirdness didn't start until two days afterwards, so I don't know if it's connected.

I did a soft reset, didn't fix it. I've done three hard resets, and it looked like it fixed it for about 5 minutes, and then as I was about to restore my contacts, IE popped up and everything stopped working again. After the third hard reset it didn't even take five minutes, it was doing it out of the gate. I have completely removed the storage card, thinking that may have been an issue, but after removing it and then performing the third hard reset, it didn't help. Does anyone have ANY idea what is going on? I have no clue where else to go. I've tried using a task manager to truly close out IE.

Thanks in advance, I'll try anything.
