I have no problems playing video on my 8525. I have successfully converted MPEG files, FLVs, DVD, etc to a Wm5 compatible format and they play and display only as good as the source file. And that is the rub...
I have tried a variety of "freeware" apps and finally just bought Spb DVD to convert video into a compatible format. But somehow, during the conversion, the audio and video get out of sync. Then it really doesn't matter how well the 8525 plays video if the source WMV file is junk to begin with. Does anyone have any suggestions? There seems to be a plethora of apps to step video down for an iPod, but a derth of apps for the Smart Phone and most of those require some other codec be installed (like PowerDVD or WinDVD) to work.
I don't grok it and I am wondering if someone out there has already skinned this cat.

I use Pocket-DVD Studio. Worrks very well. You can control the bit rate, FPS, and the sound quality. You can strech the screen to full frame or leave them in window box also.
I use an iPAQ 2215 which has Windows Mobile 2003 first edition and Media Player 9. The movies look quite good.
It will read DVDs or other video files like AVI, MPEG, ect and convert them to .WMV (the only video format that WMP 9 will play.
I have an 8 gig CF card with a 16 gig card on the way. I plug the CF card into a PCMCIA adapter or a USB 2.0 CF reader and load the .WMV files directly as it's way too slow using Active Sync. Then I pop the card into the iPAQ and play the movie.
