Angry Contacts Question- Pulling the rest of my hair out...

So I'm sitting here at my desk looking through my contacts- I have about 250 right now, and have about 40 to add today. This is a headache (not adding them, but accessing them on my phone after I add).

Ok, here's my question: When I had a Palm OS PDA, I was able to a) separate contacts by group, ie: 'appraisers', and have that respective list available, and b) type part of the company name (or any of the contact info) in and pull those contacts up. On this OS, I'm only able to search by first or last name, unless I change to 'company' view, which is impractical to me. And in Outlook, I can search any piece of the contact and all the related results, ie: 'appr' pulls up all my appraisers. Works in Outlook, but not in Contacts.

I've looked at several contacts managers, but don't see one that has the functionality of the Palm OS one. Any suggestions? Preferably freeware.

Thanks in advance.

check this out its not probably exactly what you are looking for as far as being able to catorgorize them but it is a far faster way of searching contacts and you can add the ones you use alot in a favorites folder for easy access. Let me know what you think its real easy to use and very finger friendly.
