This issue has been found using the following device:
Treo 700W-1.10-VZW
Description of issue:
- User has setup POCKET MSN on device with a valid "@msn.com" account.
- Password save option is selected, and device is set to check for new mail
every 60 minutes.
- Device can log into Messenger and collect Hotmail email correctly.
- User then uses PC to log into LIVE / Hotmail interface to change
"@msn.com" password in response to, say, a lost or stolen PocketPC device.
- Password changed successfully, however PocketPC device does not request
user to "enter password" in response to password change. It appears that
some token other than password is used to authenticate PocketPC to LIVE /
Hotmail. Note also that it is possible to sign into Messenger to chat, and
send / receive email from the PocketPC Hotmail without error or password
challenge.
- Soft reset or removal and replace of battery does not clear password.
*** I sent the above to MS, and was told I should clear the cache.
However, this is a hypothetical issue in the instance of a lost or stolen
PocketPC, with no access to the device cache (assuming the device cannot be
controlled remotely). Getting the wireless provider to kill the device is
one solution, but would this work if the device is using a WiFi connection
and not the phones EVDO connection?
