How to read pdf files on PocketPC

Because of disability to connect my PocketPC to a desktop PC I can't install the Adobe Acrobat Reader for PocketPC on the standart way. Is there some installation that can be copied to an SD card and installed from there directly to a PocketPC? Thanks in regards to all who will post me.

Check at www.freecabs.de under the free programs pages. If you don't find the .cab install file for Adobe Reader, I think you can find one for PocketXpdf, another PDF reader for the WM platform. To install, download the .cab file to your device and execute it.

A .cab file will automatically install to its default location in main memory unless you use an install manager. Fortunately, you can find a selection of install and compressed file managers at Freecabs as well.

I didn't succeed in that I downloaded the PocketXpdf. After the nziping there apears an error named "Can't find PocketXpdf or some of its components. ". I am sure that I unzipedit rght acording to the istructions of PocketXpdf. I also noticed that the PocketPC can't recognize the icon of the exe file. What cen be the possible reason.

If you have downloaded the .cab file from Freecabs, there is nothing to unzip. Simply execute the .cab file on your device and the installation will run. If you have downloaded a .zip file, extracting the files does not provide a complete install - registry entries are still needed.

Edit: I have verified that PocketXpdf does make registry entries, so even if you extract all files to a program folder, you need to make the registry entries. The installation (either by .cab or desktop installer) makes these entries as part of its process.

One other thing to note. PocketXpdf is not designed to work with versions of the WM OS older than WM2003. What OS is running on your device?

For operation system it writes:

Microsoft Pocket PC
Version 3.0.11171 (Build 11178)
1996 - 2001 Microsoft Corporation.

So I think that it is older version. Then what to do :}

You are using PPC2002 (a.k.a. WM2002 at times). So, PocketXpdf is not going to work on your current device. Acrobat Reader for PocketPC will run on PPC2002, but you will need to locate the .cab file to do an install without a host PC. Adobe does not provide this form of distribution on their web site. However, you might find it hosted elsewhere through a web search.

I have the ClearVue in my 8525, I copied the PDF manual to my phone but can't open it, I launch the program, open the file thru the menu option, then select it and when the status bar reaches the end, the application just ends and does not open the file, I tried with a different and smaller file but didn't work.
I tried to download the Adobe Reader LE but looks like it does not work for Windows Mobile 5.0, which is the OS that I have, am I doing something wrong or should I need to install something else?

Folks have been able to run PocketXpdf on WM5 devices, but it can have issues with some PDF files. It is probably worth a try. Be patient, as page rendering can be a little on the slow side.
