Predictive text

I use excel a lot on my XDA11i and wonder if the dictionary it uses can learn as sometimes when I enter things it seems to remember them for next time (these are often surnames) and sometimes it doesnt can any one enlighten me as to how it works

Yes, it is able to learn what you type. I had a motorola rokr and it would figure out what words I used most and know that when I was typing it in.

AFAIK, the user entries are held in RAM and tend to be wiped during a soft reset. There are apps that will let you add words to the default dictionary. You should check this site's download area or freeware sites like Freewarepocketpc.net and Pocketpcfreewares.com which both have extensive software archives available.
