I have had my MDA with a 2 gig minisd chip. Since I got the chip about a month ago, I have been loading all of my new documents and programs onto the chip instead of the main memory. Unfortunately, my main memory still seems to be getting eaten up. I have only 10 mb or less left on my main memory right now. When I got the MDA without the minisd chip, I had about 25 mb of memory. I have tried to figure out where the memory is going but I cannot find a particularly big program, file, picture, or video.
Do you have any ideas about programs that are better than the file explorer to help me discover where my memory is being used. Any ideas about what programs might be using up the memory without showing it. For instance, does IE store things in main memory? Or how about Microsoft Reader (I have the books loaded to the storage card)?
I did a hard reset on my machine awhile back, and that did free up the space again, but as time has gone by, the space is being eaten up more and more.
Temp files and the PIE cache are always prime suspects. An app like MemMaid can help keep the trash cleared. And an app like Tweaks2k2 can relocate several file locations (like the PIE cache) out of main memory to your memory card.
