I have a Ipaq 4350 workhorse, and im wondering if I am able to upgrade to windows 2003SE by any means. All im realy wanting our of this update is a landscape mode option. If this is not possible via upgrade, is there some reg hack or third party program that can make this function available to me? I really only want landscape for web browsing, games i have (sucha as tomb raider) run flawlessly in landscape mode, and id just like to see the same with the web. oh and I have heard if thunderhawk, and dont realy want to shell out the money for that.
You would need to check the HP site to see if they prepared a ROM reflash for your model. I do not remember what models (if any) received an update to SE. If they do not have an updated ROM for your model or series, DO NOT try to force a reflash using one for a different model. It could leave you with a flashy paper weight as the ROMs are quite hardware-specific.
I checked HP's support site, and asked customer support. They do not offer an update. So I guess now my only question is: Are there third party programs/hacks to enable this feature?
You could take a look at Nyditot Virtual Display or Jimmy's Landscape (both are commercial apps). I don't know how well either performs on your particular device. I used NVD on a Jornada 568 running WM2002; it did slow things down a little, but worked fairly well. Not always stable with all apps.
