Given the convergence of WM to a single model, I think the potential for viral attacks will increase. But at this time, the threat is conceptual rather than actual and AV apps seem to be most proficient at using up processor cycles. Probably the greatest hinderance to virus development will remain the fact that Windows desktop and WM have significant code differences and are not good candidates to cross-infect.
Unless you are having panic attacks over this, the best course still seems to be to keep current on what protection options as well as they devvelopment status (at this time, most signature files include only the proof-of-concept signature). Also keep an eye out for in-the-wild reports (so far, the only reports I have seen impact non-WM phones, so no threat there).
If you spend significant time connected to via wifi, a mobile firewall would be my purchase before AV software. Unauthorized device access over unprotected wfi is a more realistic threat at the moment.
