Hey guys I just have a quick question for you.
I just got an hp hx2790b and absolutely love it.
However I'll be the first to admit that I am:
a)Impatient
and
b)A complete Vista/Aero addict.
I recently "acquired" a copy of the windows mbile 6 crossbow beta.
I really want to install it but I REALLY really don't want to completly mess up my shiny new ppc.So my question is: Is there anyway to completely back up my pocket pc?(The Windows mobile 5 installation and the works.)Or if there Isn't if I hard reset will it restore windows mobile 5?
I would be careful as there are only leaked versions out for the HTC Universal and Wizard. The only other version that hasn't been leaked that I know of is for the HErmes (tytn). I wouldn't advise flashing it because the possiblity of creating a brick is very high. i would wait for the XDA guys to prot it to your particular device.
I do not think Sprite will do a backup of the OS ROM, but that may have changed with WM5. You can safeguard yourself by seeing if there is an OS image for your device on the HP support site. I would not try an ROM reflashing without a way back.
It is very dangerous to try to flash your device with an OS version not designed for it. Unlike desktop Windows, which ships with many of the most common hardware drivers, each WM OS release is fairly device-specific to keep its size down. A problematic OS image can leave you with a nice paper weight and it can be expensive to send it in to HP to have an appropriate ROM image restored.
Try iMobileTool SMS Backup. I found this software offers a SMS Messages backup solution to Backup all SMS messages for Windows Mobile Phones onto computer and keep them safe.
