hello everyone and please help me out
my ipaq 2002 pocket pc keeps freezing every time i soft reset it. Two windows pop up, one says "cannot execute file" and the other is something about an FSK LOADER. The one about the "cannot execute file" opens repeatedly and it freezes the device. what is the solution to this, and is it to hard reset the device? and if it is, how do i hard reset the device?
thank you
Seems like you've installed a bunch of software and probably uninstalled some aswell. Does it say exactly what file it can't execute, because if it's from an uninstalled software you can probably manually delete it. If that doesn't help I recommend a hard reset. If you have important files on your device then conduct a backup of the inportant files on your device before you proceed with your hard reset.
Now for the hard reset. While holding down on the far left (calendar) and far right (iTask or Today) press in on the reset button (reset hole) with your stylus for about 2-3 seconds. After you see the screen fade, you can verify the hard reset by pressing the power button. If the device does not power on, then you have successfully reset your unit. To reactivate the battery you must either connect the iPAQ back to AC power or press the reset button again with your stylus.
Great to hear! For future reference, sometimes even after an uninstall some folders and files may still remain. Manually delete those. I also recommend installing all your software to your external memory card as it will free space on your internal memory which in turn will maximize performance of your device.
It can also help to have a maintenance app (I use MemMaid) so you can run a clean-up sweep after an uninstall to remove orphaned files and registry entries. You would be surprised by what trash gets left behind when even a well-behaved app is uninstalled.
