Hello!

As far as I know, you're stuck with Activesync...you could search the threads here for answers or just ask....

basic troubleshooting:
- connect device directly to pc, not through a usb hub

- if it doesn't recognize your ppc on the first try, try disconnecting/reconnecting a couple times

- you may have to soft reset the ppc

- you have to enable sync over usb (if that's what you're trying to do) in activesync on your computer

- you have the latest version of activesync installed?

hopefully those pointers get you started in the right direction~

You need to provide two pieces of vital info. What OS is on your PC and what WM version is running on your device. These will tell us how much will be required to fix your ActiveSync issue.

Okay. So, what version of ActiveSync are you using? Are you having problems syncing?

A Win9x PC will need ActiveSync before version 4; 3.8 should still be available on the Microsoft web site. The problem is that a WM device running WM5 requires ActiveSync 4.x in order to connect. A device running an earlier WM version is happiest with a PC running AS 3.x though it can connect to AS 4.x, but will not be able to use all its functions.

So, what WM version is running on your device?

I think we already established that. He says he has an XP box that 4.1 won't work on.
Unless, his message was wrong and his computer ISN'T XP, therefore AS 4.x won't work.
Oh well, all we can do is try to help.

The machine with the older OS is identified in one of the later posts as Windows 98. This is the one that is the fly in the ointment, not the box that is on XP of Win2k. There is no AS solution to a Win98-WM5 combo.
