Hey what's up everybody??? well I just got my new pocket pc XV something something....... but I was wondering, for some reason I can't run activesync on my computer and I was wondering if there is any other program I can instead of it...... I tried searching but I couldn't find nothin.... well thanks in advance.... see yall later..... oh and by the way I love this site already
You need to provide two pieces of vital info. What OS is on your PC and what WM version is running on your device. These will tell us how much will be required to fix your ActiveSync issue.
well in tryibg to install active sync 4.1 it says that I can only install on windows xp or 2000. my computer is xp and I won't work.... is there an older version which I can run on my other computer a windos 98???
A Win9x PC will need ActiveSync before version 4; 3.8 should still be available on the Microsoft web site. The problem is that a WM device running WM5 requires ActiveSync 4.x in order to connect. A device running an earlier WM version is happiest with a PC running AS 3.x though it can connect to AS 4.x, but will not be able to use all its functions.
I think we already established that. He says he has an XP box that 4.1 won't work on.
Unless, his message was wrong and his computer ISN'T XP, therefore AS 4.x won't work.
Oh well, all we can do is try to help.
The machine with the older OS is identified in one of the later posts as Windows 98. This is the one that is the fly in the ointment, not the box that is on XP of Win2k. There is no AS solution to a Win98-WM5 combo.
