Does this happen while the device is in active use or only after it has been powered off?

If you use Tweaks2k2, you could try activating the option to speed up SD/MMC transfer rate. This might be enough to get the Start menu to refresh the icons on its own when accessed.

It does it with every soft reset but sometimes without. I already was speeding up SD/MMC transfer rate. It did start after some installs, resco file explorer and photot viewer I think. I have also remade the shortcuts.

Did you try backing up everything on the card and reformatting it? Just a thought.

haha, the profile pic is of a character on a tv show called "the office."

as for reformatting, just stick it in your pc and format like you would any other drive?

(My computer > right click on card > format)

Defrag might accomplish the same thing, but Brain's way is much faster if you have ready PC access.

I just moved the apps to the device they are small (resco explorer, resco photo, and coreplayer. I hear bad things about defraging cards

Have you guys try the new coreplayer I like it alot. also resco explorer is great it's alot more like xp (drag n drop, recycle bin, big folder icons............)

I have used Storage Tools to defrag a couple of times with no problem on either CF or SD cards, but the process is sllooowwww! I think sometimes people have issues because they get impatient and interrupt the defrag operation. I only do it when I can leave the device unused for a couple of hours so the process can go all the way to completion. The operation seems to take more time when the card has less free space (makes sense) and on SD cards, the Ultra cards do defrag noticeably faster, something I assume is related to the faster access in writing to them.

I also swear by Resco. I understand that Total Commander is a pretty similar free app but I haven't tried its newer versions to see how it compares. The Resco Photo Viewer is top-notch, too. They offer a bundle that includes both.

The icons in the start menu of an AKU 2.6 rom will only stay for programs that are part of the operating system. I had this happen to me all the time so I just use windows' shortcuts. Just like you said, once you click on them the correct icon returns.

This is corrected in AKU 3.0 Roms and above.

Another one of those 'features' that crop up in Microsoft OSes as they progress. Hopefully it will work differently in the upcoming OS fix, a.k.a. WM6.
