Something Simple in WM5.0: Can't add "Notes" to Today Screen

I recently upgraded to the latest rom 2.16.9.1
phew, before this, my Imate Kjam used to drop a lot of calls.

Now for the life of me I can't figure out how to customize my today screen. At the bottom there are two buttoms Calendar and Contacts. How do I change the "calendar" to "Notes". Better yet can you assign it to directly create a new note once you click it?

Try the attached file - it will let you set your soft keys to whatever you want.

Let me know if you need more help with it.

thank you. that worked marvelously.

very much appreciated.

any idea how to asign it so that it goes straight to taking notes rather than hitting new? i've had many occasions when I'm just rushing somewhere and have to take notes really quickly.

Hmm, not sure about the new note problem.

I use PocketInformant, and that has an option/shortcut to make a new note. I have that mapped to one of my buttons.

There might be a way to make a shortcut to make a new note manually, similar to writing a simple line or two of DOS on the pc, but I don't have any experience with the ppc language.

Hmm...I wonder if I it would work if I copied the link I have to another device without PocketInformant...I might have to try that.

If that works, I can just post the link, you can download it and map it to a button. I'll let you know.

Bad news: I tried copying the executable to another device without pocket informant, and it didn't work.

I'll let you know if I find another solution.

Just copy it over to your \Windows directory and soft reset. It should show up in your system settings.

ruthless, try this program:

WM5NewMenu

From the info in this thread, it looks like this program can recreate the WM2003 "New" menu -- then you can set one of the softkeys to access this program...which is down to 2 clicks, instead of 3.
