Hey guys.....very much a rookie here and I am having trouble with my Microsoft ActiveSync......It has worked in the past with me disabeling my firewall but everyonce in a while I will have to uninstall and reinstall it because it says it does not detect my device......and now that is not even working I have reinstalled it numerous times now and it still does not recognize that my phone (8125) is connected. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.....
Are you connecting by USB? If yes, go to your desktop ActiveSync's connection settings and make sure that the USB port is activated. AS's tendency seems to be not to turn this port on as its default action after install or upgrade. This may not be your issue but it is worth a quick check. Microsoft is nothing if not consistent.
you can go into device manager on your computer as well. make sure you see no exclamation marks on the USB tree in the hardware profile. also try hooking up another device through that USB cable...maybe its bad?
I was having the same problem. Had to reinstall over and over, then had to reset my phone and finally it just stopped syncing. I did an rom update on my htc and haven't had any problems since.
uninstall all activesync files, then run the software to get a partnership between pc and ppc. check pc activesync connection settings or system restore your pc back to when the sync was working. maybe it will restore your com port and partnership. sometimes when you connect cameras the actviesync will start and then when you connect the ppc, activesync will not recognize it.
The activesync troubleshooting guide is quite comprehensive. I guess the solutions presented here are also comprehensive however if you wish to have a look, check this link out. ActiveSync Troubleshooting Guide
I am having problems connecting my 8125 also. I took it to work and it hooked up no problem to my old work PC. When I connect to my PC at my house, and run activesync it says the device can not be detected and below that it says Com 1 available, Com 2 and IR not available and USB connected. I have restarted several times and uninstalled and reinstalled several times and I have windows firewall turned off, outlook is the primary mail and all that and I still cant get it goin. I would appreciate any help. Thanks.
Thanks to Jimnoland (and everyone else who contributes to this forum) for this simple yet effective fix to what has been a two day nightmare. I recently upgraded my celle service to include unlimited internet access and set my Ipaq 6515 to handle email. Somehow in the process, I lost the ability to sync with my office and home computers.
I use Netscape 7.2, which is normally set as my default mail application.
Long story short.... I hard reset, upgraded ROM, reinstalled applications, upgraded to AS 4.5, bought a new sync cable and spent HOURS trying to get my calendar to sync. The troubleshooter and messages kept pointing at a USB communication error. In the end, temporarily switching to Outlook as my default mail application allowed me to complete the process and establish a new partnership with my PC.
