Hey all....great site! Just got a 8125 and still exploring it....so far so good...first pda for myself.
Anyway I'm a software engineer therefore by requirements I don't usually read the instructions.
I just want to use ActiveSync to move files back and forth from the laptop to the 8125 Scandisk. I DON'T want to sync outlook and all the other clutter. Does Activesync drag and drop to the external mini-disk and can I pick and choose what I want to move instead of the software which in most cases tries to idiot proof everything by "requirements"......and sync's all things.
Sure. Once your pc and 8125 get connected you get the typical pop up window asking you if you want to sync or not. Choose cancel and you avoid the outlook sync and other nonsense.
Yeah drop and drag at will. On the activesync program click 'explore device' or whatever its called and navigate to 'my handheld pc -> storage card'.
My poor dusty memory needs an assist. Not too long ago, an app was released that allowed a WM device to be connected to a host PC (I think it required USB connection) and be recognized and used as removable storage. Is this ringing a bell with anyone? This might be just what this user is looking for to simplify the connection. If I recall correctly, it is toggled from the WM device.
Thanks to Tim, memory returns. I am thinking of Card Export II, which lets your device function as if it were a card reader. You cannot use Card Export and ActiveSync at the same time, but the process to toggle from one function to the other is very simple.
There is information available at Softick.com and the app is compatible with WM2003, SE, and WM5.
