Help with apps please...

Hello everyone,

I'm looking for similar apps that worked great on my Palm OS that (I hope) may be available for PPC. Freeware, shareware and commercial apps are acceptable. If you can provide brief info, links and price, that'll be greatly appreciated.

1) I heard that the built-in Pocket Word and Pocket Excel are less than 'stellar' (very basic functionality) for documents and spreadsheets. On my Palm, I used Wordsmith and Documents To Go for my documents and MiniCalc for spreadsheets. Is there anything out there that is comparable? This is the biggie for me.

2) Is the Today screen, PIMS as good as DateBk 5 for the Palm?

3) Is there anything similar to ZLauncher for the PPC (customizable launcher, theme manager, file manager, etc.)?

TIA.

Thanks razorone.

I'll take a look into it.

I actually narrowed down the word processing and spreadsheet apps. I'll have to go with the developers of TextMaker and PlanMaker.

I'm also (most likely) going to get SKTools and Pocket Infomant 2007.

I'm looking (debating) at Spb Pocket Plus, iLauncher, Resco Utility Pakage, Calligrapher, and Sprite Backup.

between Spb Pocket Plus and iLauncher, i suggest try them both and decide later which is better for you, both are almost the same in terms of funtionality and usefullness.
REsco utility software is a good choice, in backup you might want to look at SPB Backup also, although SPRITE is one of the best out there in the market...

Good luck...

Thanks Murduck.

I'll look at SpbBackup as well.

According to my shipment status, my Dell Axim just reached my workplace this morning (BUT the receiver didn't tell me)! Oh well, I'm not complaining because it's been raining all day, my workplace is steady busy and I would have left it there anyways (don't like carrying things when it's damp and wet)...

I'm really excited right now...

Just can't wait 'til tommorrow to bring my new toy home (provided the weather clears up)...

Well before you do anything with your new toy, better get the ROM upgrade to it, the latest one is A12, so better check your ROM version.

Good luck...

The Axim already has A12(06200600) ROM installed out of box. I haven't had a chance to fully play with it yet. I'm still using my Sony TH55 as my main unit for now, until I can plant my feet firmly on the ground with PPC.

I'll be checking out the PPC software soon enough...
