My first post here! I recently took the dive into the pocket pc with a newly accquired 8125. It is truly a wonderful tool. Wi-fi in my pocket is just so cool.
So since I have a few friends that use Yahoo and I talk to them oftem from the home pc. I'd like to do the same when possible with the 8125.
I did not want to buy any software (Agile Messenger or IM+) if I don't have to. So I found that Yahoo now has a "mobile" version here: Yahoo! Go - How It Works - Mobile
Has anyone tried using this yet? Just curious about it's performance and such.
I'd rather spend my $$ on some other software (SPB Pocket Plus, etc).
Anyways I am glad to be here and hope I can be of help to someone as many of you have been to me.
Welcome to Pocket PC Addict Rekoof! Glad to hear that you're enjoying your 8125, there are a lot of 8125 users here in our community and I'm sure you will find all the information you need. As for Yahoo! Go, personally I have not used it but I can tell you that you will not be dissappointed with SPB Pocket Plus... it will be well worth your money.
Well, I installed it. Didn't like it so I ran the remove programs option and it didn't really remove it. So I went and tried to delete the Yahoo folder in the progams file. It removed most of the file, but keeps telling me that vsagent is being used and I cannot delete or move it because of a sharing violation. Now when I ever I do a soft resart I get an error about yahoo not being there. Not happy with it at all!
Yahoo Go isnt worth the space it takes up as it does nothing more than yahoo mobile webpage does already. For yahoo messenger i'd suggest agile messenger as nobody really knows if its freeware or payware. Or if you can handle an IRC client, get zsirc and connect it to im.bitlbee.org and you can yahoo message via irc. Check out its homepage BitlBee - News
Oh and just remembered, if you have a text messaging plan, you can log in to yahoo via text message and send and receive yahoo messenger messages via text.
To log in send a text to 92466 (92466 = yahoo on keypad)
Type in.. in username password
To log out send a text to 92466
