Hi,
I on Vodafone in Australia.
As some of you may know Vodafone Live! is supposed to be free to browse
However Vodafone was charging me their standard internet rate ($1 for 5 min)
After calling Vodafone 3 or 4 times they told me my Pocket PC was accessing ISATAP automatically. He said it was something most Pocket PCs with WM5 do. ISATAP isn't part of Vodafone Live! so they start charging me internet rates even when I haven't left Vodafone Live!
Does anyone know how to stop my Pocket PC (it is an HP iPaq rw6828) from accessing ISATAP.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Sorry to hear that you're having this problem. To choose and select your internet service go to settings and then click connections tab. Then click on the advance tab to select your network. Hope this helps and let us know your progress.
Thanks for your reply.
Sadly this is not how I would be fixed. My PPC connects through the Vodafone Live! connection. According to Wikipedia ISATAP is: ISATAP (Intra-Site Automatic Tunnel Addressing Protocol) is an IPv6 transition mechanism meant to transmit IPv6 packets between dual-stack nodes on top of an IPv4 network.
Apparently there is a Windows CE ultility on MSDN call ipv6tun that has the ability to disable ISATAP. I can't find a way to download it and even if I could i'm not sure it would work on WM5. If anyone knows anything about ipv6tun could they please post it here.
I tried calling HP, but I found out that all of HP's tech support is now in India. They were VERY hard to understand and didn't seem that compatent because all he did was look throught the settings on a unit to try and find an ISATAP setting, I can do that. If anyone has any thing to add to this post I would appreciate it.
Just to clarify.
Vodafone Live! is a free web service to Vodafone customers at live.vodafone.com.
The $1 for 5 min is charged when you leave and go to an external site e.g.Google and my unit using ISATAP is interprated as an external site.
Just wanted to be sure I had made this clear for those who are not familiar with Vodafone.
