I have just purchased a Motorola Q with Windows Mobile 5.0. The media player (Media Player 10 mobile) is stalling (not playing smooth) when playing video, the sound is fine. I have played some mp4's, and video does not play but the sound again is fine. I am wondering if I need a codec, I have done a little research and found a codec that might help (tcpmp.setup.0.71.exe) but when trying to install the software is not allowing me to install saying that it is not intended for this software or that the certificate is not valid. Is this the right codec or do I need another one to play video correctly?
Hello, hugovan. It looks like Motorola Q productivity is not enough for smooth video playing, that is why I advice you convert video on you Desktop PC before sending it to Motorola device. You can do it with Virtual Dub, for example. Use 320*240 resolution and bitrate ~800-1000 Kb/sec.
Regarding TCPMP. It is not codec, it is media player and as I understand, your version is designed for Windows Mobile and doesn't support Motorola Q as it Windows Mobile Smartphone Edition device. You should download TCPMP for Smartphones by this link: CoreCodec.org: Download File
Copy this file to you Motorola and run it to proceed installation. Good Luck!
