That is a very interesting question. I actually tested out the AIM uk version just for a quick second, hopefully i dont get charged. The thing about it is, i dont see how they can charge you because of the fact that how can the gauge how much you have used it, or how can they track each IM you send.

When I tested the AIM program it never asked me my cell phone number or anything during installation so how would they know where to charge you. At least thats how I see it. Maybe I am wrong. Does anyone else know??

It is true. If you have Cingular you are charged for each IM you receive and send. If you dont have IMs as part of your plan you are charged $0.10 per message each way (ie if you IM someone and there are a total of 5 messages sent back and forth in your conversation, then you will be charged $0.50 if you dont have text messaging as a part of your plan). If you do have text messaging, then it will just deduct from your total amount of messages.

I would call Cingular from your phone and check. I think the number from your phone is 611. They will tell you exactly what it is. I know if you are not on a special package, you get charged .10 per message. I thought is was just out going message, but I'm not sure. Post a message and let me know when you find out. Thanks
