I recently attempted to download the ROM update for my I-Mate JasJar device that is supposed to improve radio performance, provide push e-mail, etc... It failed at the first step, and now I have a completely dead device, If there is any way to restore this device to its original setup, please let ne know asap!. I am panicking big time, I need to fix this asap! I'm open to all suggestions...
I dont have I-Mate JasJar but Upgrading ROM in pocket pc is pretty much the same.
Does your device showing anything after the failed upgrade?
Have tried it again for the second time?
If still not working you might try to set your device to Bootloader mode, heres how to do it:
[Camera] + [Soft reset]
Universal (Dopod 900, Qtek 9000, MDA Pro, I-Mate JASJAR, O2 XDA Exec, SPV
No luck. Neither one does a thing! It just says Serial at the top of the screen and v1.00 at the bottom. Now if I try and do the upgrade process again, it states that I have 0 current version. It is just blank, where as the first time it said a version number for radio, etc...

Well you did it. This mean you are in Bootloader mode.

No, it fails every time I try it, and I have tried other forums instructions on changing settings on usb connection in activesync first and other things... They say that it has just wiped out the rom all together but it is in bootloader mode and can still be installed... I just can't get it to process the installation. It fails every time. takes about 2-3 minutes then says failed and gives me the option to start recovery. I try that and go through steps 1 and 2 and then as soon as I reconnect it and start step three I get Windows crash - Windows has encountered an error, report to microsoft? window crash...
96inspire, I'm so sorry that this has turned out to be a nightmare for you! I don't have a Jasjar, but have you tried draining your batteries first and re-starting the process?
I don't know if this is the cause of the problem.. but there was a known issue with a JasJar upgrade where i-mate accidentally released the Arabic version instead of the English version which caused devices to become bricks. You may have to call i-mate support for this one...
btw, here's some information on that previous nightmare of an upgrade and you can find the "revival" version that i-mate provided that's supposed to bring the JasJar back to life English version style. I hope this helps... REVIVE HERE
