My Pocket PC 2003 on my iPAQ 5550 is limping ! It has lost all the mobile MSN messenger settings, it has lost its wireless capability (the "wireless" tab does not appear any more in CONNECTIONS), and its becoming a pain.
It does perform wonerfully still though with Tom Tom Navigator - the main reason I havent junked it yet !
Who can tell me how to restore it to its former glory and get all the capability back ?

Ouch... you know, the same thing happened to an i-mate SP3i that I was using. For some reason or another I have to reboot the device, and all the settings and such went out the door. The odd thing was that although it acted like a hard reset, my contacts and calendar information were still intact! Even all of my themes and ringtones (although I had to select to use them again) were still there. My guess is that the registry was corrupt and Windows Mobile had to revert back to defaults.
That is what I'm guessing happened (or is happening since its not exactly at its defaults) to you. My suggestion would be to hard reset the device. I used to carry around an HP iPAQ h5555, and if I remember correctly to hard reset the device, you need to press and hold down the two outside application buttons (usually it is the Calendar and iTask buttons) and stick your stylus in the reset hole for about 2-3 seconds, that should clear EVERYTHING out of your device and you can start from scratch to install everything back again. This should also restore your wireless capability. Remember to backup everything on your device before doing this!
