Lakeridge Software releases WisBar Advance Desktop

WisBar Advance Desktop is a WisBar Advance 2.x plugin that replaces your existing Today screen. Using WisBar Advance Desktop, you can create shortcuts, system meters, floating windows and virtual pages to extend the functionality of your PocketPC.
WisBar Advance Desktop also supports most existing Today plugins. You can arrange them on multiple pages in order to maximize their usefullness (the plugin must support user-defined heights).

I played with the Beta versions of this software and I have to say this just might be THE Today Plug-In. Some of the screenshots are absolutely astounding! Make sure to check out the screenshots from the beta versions here.

I had seen this in it's beta form, and the screenshots are TRULY impressive. I could hardly wait for it to come out of beta and have a set of instructions so that I could work with this program.
But, I have to say now, that I have NEVER had a software program that has made me feel as inept and downright stupid as this program has. I understood going in that it is not intended for a new user. You really do have to be something of an intermediate to experienced user to effectively use this. But, I thought I was reasonably experienced, until today. Then, I found out I know nothing...at least about this program. So little of it is "instinctive" and trying to guess your way thru, while staring at a totally blank screen is way more intimidating than I thought it would be.
I spent 8 hours today (OK, I know I have no life, but that's beside the point!) trying to get something going with it. It took me nearly 3 hours, 16 posts and 6 screenshots on the Lakeridge forums to find out that I had a version of WisBar Advance 2, that did not support WAD, I needed to upgrade that before I could even get WAD to "turn on."
I have to say...that really would have been helpful information to include in the product documentation!
I then spent another hour or so, trying to get a theme to "turn on" and never could.
Eventually, I gave up on the whole idea, and switched back to iLauncher, and spent an hour or 2 fixing that up, downloading all the icons I could and getting the tabs set up "just right."
I really hope that Chris over at Lakeridge will eventually create documentation that will cover in detail, how to set up this program because it has SO MUCH potential...but without more documentation (there is currently a 10 page doc that is not very detailed on the How To portion...more like a recap of features) if I can't get it in a few hours, even after reading every thread in the forum, I give up. At least for now.

JDTagish, don't feel too bad, I couldn't figure it out either.
It's my guess that it will be made more user friendly as the newer releases come out. The screens ARE impressive though...

I am so glad to hear that I'm not the only one who couldn't figure it out! By the end of the day yesterday after all that, I was pretty bummed. I've never had anything stump me that way.
Just a word of advice...WAD is a plug-in to WA2, and WA2 is having some changes made to it as a result. If you don't plan to use WAD, don't upgrade your WA2 versions, because most of the changes are to accomodate WAD.

Just to let you guys know there is now a full manual for this:
Here:
http://www.lakeridgesoftware.com/wad/index.html
To be honest i am no computer wiz but i found it quite easy to sort out, the thing i like is that you can do what you what with it and not what a third party has decided you can do.
All the various icons, docks, wallpaper are there in the forum waiting for you to download and play with, and yes you have to put things where you want them, but thats the whole idea of it.
