Try removing the card and using a card reader connected to your PC to see if you can see the files that way.
Also, soft reset of your device with the card removed can sometimes solve that problem.
Let us know if that works for you. If not, we'll come up with other suggestions.

I second JD's advice. You might also look at the "contacts of the card and make sure there isn't any corrosion, or whatever built up.

normally if I am going to clean contacts I use a metal polish or WD40, which can act as a degreaser.

sd card

I cleaned the contacts..still no luck..I don't understand why it displays memory usage for the card but nothing is listed on file explorer..I created a new file and was able to place it on the card and open it, no problem, do you think the card is screwed?..the card looks fine, no damage or abuse was done to it....do u think a hard reset would help?..this is very annoying as I have hundreds of files on this card...I thought all these files would be on my computer when I do a backup?..is this not so?

sd

I went to settings--memory---find large files using storage memory--and a program called Passman was displayed which I have on the sd card..I tapped it and I was able to access it..this is strange..

Your file allocation table (FAT) is probably corrupted. I haven't heard of any applications that repair FAT32/16 partition tables, but I'm sure that some exist.

run might be right about that. You could try Pocket Mechanic which might have some luck recovering your files or use scandisk from your Desktop PC to scan your card in a card reader.

A fix to your problem...it fixed mine!

There is a utility program called, "Flash Format 2.6", that I used to reformat my SD card. I had the same problem and it restored my 512 SD back to the original 488.25 MB free storage available. It loads itself under, "Settings > System". You can download it from CNET or directly from the company, www.cnetx.com
I have a HP iPAQ hx2495.
Good luck...I hope this helps
