Softava Releases PicturePassword PPC 2.0 with VGA Support

You may have seen Picturepassword before. In my opinion it's a pretty cool way to password protect your PDA. You basically have a picture that appears when you turn on your Pocket PC, then instead of entering a number or word, you simply tap the picture in a secret location to unlock your Pocket PC. Pretty convenient way to be secure huh? 8-) Today, Softava announced Picturepassword 2.0 for Pocket PC.
The new version offers several features and improvements. The main thing is the full VGA support. It allows using custom login pictures with up to 480 x 488 pixels.
PicturePassword can be obtained at the www.picturepassword.com for $14.95. The price includes one year of free updates and support. Free full-functional trial copy is available and works without any limitations for 14 days.

How do you think this type of password protection compares to the traditional alpha-numeric?

Has anyone tried this software? I tried it today and it didn't work right. Although I set a strong password and a picture, whenever I turned off my Axim X50v and then turned it back on, the native Password app came up and asked for a 4-digit passcode. Of course, one doesn't exist. So, I soft reset, which brought up PicturePassword 2.0. Since I cannot soft reset everytime I want to use my Axim, I uninstalled PicturePassword. Now their website doesn't come up.

Hi tanker_bob and welcome to our site
I just hate it when I mention an app and it ends up causing problems for someone. :? I know some people that have had good luck with PP though. I am just glad it didn't lock you out of your PPC for good! One guy tried a not-so-similar utility and he had to hard reset to get it unlocked.
You are right that the site appears to be down. It's my guess that they haven't tested the Axim X50v yet.

Hi Brad!
Thanks for the welcome! I've been visiting this site every day for several weeks looking for news, new apps, and updates. It was great to see that you hit 13K registered.
I appreciate the point-out to PicturePassword. I've been looking for a good security app, and this one fills most of what I want. I'll be persistent in working the issue with the developer, assuming his website comes back up. Like-type competing apps don't support VGA or don't have the flexibility of PicturePassword 2.0. I'll let you know how it turns out.
