CLaunch : custom icons? 64x64?

Goodmorning all,
I'm not sure if somebody has used CLaunch before (or not) and whether or not this is an appropriate q for this forum but here it goes :
- my purpose was to use "homemade" icons (converting and trying out BMP's) : the result is a weird one : only one quarter is visible and the icon seems "enlarged"?
So : does anyone have suggestions on which exact bmp format to use with CLaunch? Or is it program specific??? Seems like neither Gimp nor Photoshop can create correct BMP's (at least for use with CLaunch)
thanks a lot,
/dimi

In cLaunch, icons are not automatically resized to as smaller size. So, you have to use the icon of the right size or you can configure the icon display size in the settings

Hi there Vicott, firstoff : thanks a lot for taking the time to reply.
That they weren't automatically resized in CLaunch : I had a hunch it should've been something like that but still : creating a 48x48 icon (transparency or with MagiC Pink as the background) and setting the icons to size 48, won't work like it should. Let's just say the upperleft quarter of the image is used and it's stretched over those 48x48 pixels.
Back to you CLaunch pro's?

Oh, I didn't know that part cos I only use the icons which are 16x16. Since that's the case, it's better to resize the icons to 16x16 before using them then. This is something new i learnt today

Could be an option but still... I've seen screenshots of people using those large, highly detailed icons with CLaunch > I just got to have it working too on my 47xx

I don't know if this would help your case. But I have all sorts of problems with icons. Irfanview has an icon manager that helps sometimes.

I have been dying to get claunch to work with my e805, and have it show nice pretty icons as well, but so far, no luck!
From what I understand, the trouble is not with your icons (the ones you designed I mean) the trouble is with claunch. If you have used a tweak to make claunch VGA aware, then the icons are displayed in that weird way you describe. It doesn't matter if they are a system icon or you you create yourself. It seems to try to display 1/4 of the icon, so it shows just a corner of the icon, since the program was designed to work only in QVGA.
My trouble extends to the system menu in claunch as well. When I tweak the program to make it VGA aware, then the menus are distorted, and I cannot read the tabs in the set up screens, or read some of the information in the boxes to adjust the settings. I've tried switching back and forth with VGA/QVGA to get the setting correct, but ultimately I gave up, hoping that someday I would find the answer on a forum. I even emailed the developer to ask if he would consider a VGA upgrade, but never heard back. (Which I'm guessing means no...)
If you can get this figured out, I would really love to know what settings you wind up using!

Was rather busy @ work today so, without further ado :
@ Brad : thanks for the tip : just been trying out Irfanview but alas, converting to BMP or trying to use other formats > JDT has explained it well, the problem remains I'm afraid.
And thanks for the kind reply thereafter, nice to feel welcome Appreciated!!!
@ JDT : reading over your reply, some ideas popped up :
1. switched back again to QVGA > same thing
2. guess what : I've done the same thing : emailed the author asking for some help but perhaps he has disbanded that email address?
That's a promise, I sincerely hope someone will shed some light into this problem.
But for now : just a mere 23h's and I'll be off to Les Deux Alpes [snowboarding!!!]
my next reply will take a bit more time
have a nice one,
/dimi

I guess the developer is really busy with his full-time job and not available to see to to the software support. I have previously e-mailed him to suggest a feature to be added about a year back. He replied to say that it will be under his To Do list and that he was very busy with his work, but since then I have not seen any upgrades available. Anyway, we can't demand much software support since it's a freeware. it's already a great freeware despite some lacking features

The thing that gets me, is that some people HAVE gotten it to work! I see screenshots of today screens, and the icons look great. The challenge is that the people who have figured it out are NOT telling how, which is unusual in the PPC community, where knowledge like that is usually shared easily.
I've actually seen some downright rude responses when people have posted asking someone how they did it.
I'm in no way faulting the developer here, BTW...I would be happy to pay for the program even now, not being able to make it work the way I want it to just to support the developer.
Since his program is based on another program, and his website encourages people to make changes/improvements to it, I'm really surprised that no one has tried to make it work with VGA yet.
Oh well...I'll keep waiting I guess.

I'd just like it to not distort the background on my X50v. I tried some other launchers and I like it better so I just use backgrounds that don't suffer from that part of the screen being magnified.
