I would have really like to try the Public Beta 2 of PI 2005. It was posted two days ago and then yanked due to getting enough bug reports from testers. Oh well, I guess you can't choose when you are sick in bed huh?
Did anyone else here get a chance to try it? How is it?
...hmmmm it is right.
here it is as link: jukkjuha@mbnet.fi
and another one: jmjuha@utu.fi (I think here might server block *.zip and *.exe files)
If those doesn't work then I'll have to wait next rc
I downloaded the program to see what was up in the new version. I do think it looks darn good in VGA(look taken right from newer Desktop Outlook programs, though the blue gradient doesnt always match with color schemes). But I could not find what was making it a "major" update. The timeline view, in its current form, doesnt seem to be all that helpful and definitely not worth the 6.0 label (even less so than AF's Project view making it 7.0). Most of what I see is restructuring of the program.
I know there are a few other added things in there. They did add time tickers below titlebars for days in most of the views, which look pretty good. There was other stuff that I wanted to try but either couldnt get to, or couldn't find where they put the settings for (they also changed the settings screens again). I couldn't figure how to turn the contact list into one with pictures(which would be cool), I couldn't edit anything, and I actually got trapped in the task view when the bottom toolbar disappeared(some of which is obviously understandable do to it being beta).
All in all, Id love to hear as well, what features in 2005 that "Power" PI users think put it over the top. I must be missing stuff, but just can't see how restructuring to get screen layouts and older features up to specification with your future plans(and wrecking most current users configurations) with only a limited number of new features is worth the update cost.
Obviously Im biased, do to my own products. But I also do concede the product is a superior one well worth its original price to new users. I'm just trying to figure out how update costs are necessarily worth it to existing users. Is it mostly just the promise of what is to come in sub point updates?
Thanks....
Hey birdiestyle, how IS Ultiplanner going these days? You are currently at 2.1 build now right?
I had a question about the Journal portion? Does it sync with outlook journal?
Ill be doing a very minor update very soon, and then a more major one hopefully a little later this spring. Im working heavily on 2.0 of All-In Hold'Em right now, that will be a huge update...
Nope, the journal doesnt sync, I think that the only option for that is using
PI and their journal-sync add-on. That is until Microsoft makes that a better option in the POOM code, or way more requests are made for me to make an active-sync plugin as well...
Hmmm... No other PI update information... anyone?
Cool
