AvantGo = AvantNo

I have been getting increasing annoyed with the new AvantGo client.
It is slow, bloated, and keeps throwing off errors when I try to sync.
I have tried working with their customer support. They are polite but in a nutshell useless. So I finally wrote to them asking how to remove it from my device.
In part this is their reply:
"To uninstall from the device: To uninstall software upgrades see your device's owner's manual for hard reset instructions.
Note: A hard reset removes all software not installed in ROM. "

My Reply:
"Since when did a hard reset become an acceptable method of removal of software from a pocket pc? This is unethical! You are a discrace. If I want you to wear my clothes do I stitch them to your back?!"
Too harsh?

that is pretty harsh, but I can see it would be frustrating. So, in a nutshell, you installed an upgrade, don't like it and there is no way to remove it? :? Very odd..seems they would have had to try pretty hard to remove uninstall instructions to load, since it's pretty much built in to the development environment. Even microsoft's bluetooth hotfixes etc. contain uninstall scripts.
Perhaps you could manually uninstall it by deleting it from the \windows directory and hacking your registry.

Avantgo client is on my X50v remove program list. I didn't try to remove it but the file to remove it is there.

I predict an "avant-NO" storm!!
I gave up on Avant-go because
a) not so "free" with all those ads
b) I finally realized the info it provided wasn't all that great
c) RSS readers seem to work MUCH better.
d) Not worth all the hassle
That said, get rid of Avant DON'T Go and your PPC will be happier!
NUNKA!!

AvantNOT

I did gave up on AvantGO since the moment they published their new version, I had to do a HR on my hx4700. Now I am using Illium's NewsBreak, so far excellent!
