Hi,
Can anyone recommend any good software that I can use to edit my address book on my Pocket PC using my desktop pc.
I purchased Pocket Database form handango which was supposed to work but after installing the software I recieved an error message on my Pocket PC saying the application you have launched requires Microsoft eMbedded Visual Basic Runtime to be installed.
Can anyone tell me how I can install the required EVB or recommend alternative software.
I also want to export a database from my desktop pc in Maximzer 7 into my pocket PC what software should I buy for this.
Regards
Sadly. It almost seems as if Microsoft has abandoned the Pocket PC. Sort of looked at it as "That's okay, someone will take care of it eventually...Right?"
The operating system is sad, and so are the ways of interfacing a desktop to it. (Don't we all just LOVE activesync?)
Fortunately, there are great programmers out there writing great programs for it, and there are great hardware bases people make.

You are having a bad day here when it comes to Pocket PC aren't you?

See, it doesn't feel like that to me. It feels like they never cared to bother making it really good. On the other hand, it always feels to me like Microsoft takes the laziest way out (people don't mind lots of buggy programs or ones that could have been interfaced better... it has our name on it, it sells, who cares if it works well?).
I told my roommate I couldn't get a job with them (I live in Seattle) because they'd probably not appreciate me yelling at my windows computer about stupid lazy microsoft programmers, I hate microsoft (I like my Mac. Sadly, I like my pocket pc even if it could have been done better... if nothing else, ability to quit programs! How lazy do you have to be not to implement that?!).
(I sync my pocket pc with the pc I bought once that lasted a year before I wanted to chuck it out the window and bought a mac like I should have the first time).
There's always a newton
Some programs made by microsoft are top-notch or second to the best. Streets & Trips, Office, even Windows XP has come a long way in the quality department. I'm hoping soon that one of the next versions of windows mobile will blow us away. Kind of like ME to XP (I hope)
And it wasn't as much a bad day, as it was 5 in the morning and I was too tired to see straight. There's a certain point where your body forgets it should be asleep and mindlessly wanders along trying to remember.

Couldn't agree more. It's no wonder Mac users can feel at home on a PocketPC, because closing an application won't get rid of it until you quit it.You need to get yourself a copy of Wisbar, which you can find here: http://www.freewareppc.com/utilities...radvance.shtml
There are a few versions around because the author released the source code. Some will charge for their versions, so be careful to only pay for what you want.

Can't agree it's like mac at all. Macintosh programs have a quit function you can quit from (hell, here's a mac shortcut if you ever have to use a mac. Any program on a mac that's not badly ported from PC - my vet has a program like that and ti's the only one I've seen that won't quit this way, can be quit using command-q). You don't have to go to the control panel and force the program to quit like you do on pocket pc (there's a big difference. One you can quit frmo the program without switching around to find something to quit the program for you). So, I still standby my statement that I like mac and windows programmers are lazy. BEcause mac programmers did program a quit function from within the program. And I kinda like being able to close programs without quitting the program *shrug*. I just don't like not being able to quit the program by having to open something else to make it quit.
So, no, I don't feel at home on a pocket pc at all. Or at least not becaue I use a mac anyways.
