Ok, trying to install MS Reader on my Ipaq 4705 (system same as came with). First had to switch browsers (activation doesn't support my browser). Then had to install some activation thingy of Microsoft's. Then had to log in (I already had a login because I originally had an older version of MS reader on there and I activated it on my previous Ipaq 39xx... no it's not installed on the ROM, the 4705 didn't come with MS Reader). So, I finally get to a page that says "activate MS Reader". Click on it, and I get some crap about needing Windows CE 2002 or later... as far as I understand... the ipaq 4705 comes with the latest windows CE 2003 possible (or at least last I checked). And I checked my active sync... version 3.7 (they claim 3.5 or later).
I suppose I should add I installed MSReader on the ROM as I want as little as possible taking up my RAM (thank you HP for increasing ROM which I can effectively increase by SD cards rather than RAM which I'm stuck with whatever they give me.. my one big pet peeve about the 4705, otherwise I absolutely love it). Please don't tell me I'll probably have to have it on RAM if I want it (*sigh*).
Anyone have any ideas on what gives here (besides Microsoft sux ass)?
I installed mine on SD on my Axim X50v. Its buggy yet with the new VGA machines and some things don't always work right but it did activate. Don't know that it would make a difference but you might try it there
I have an HX4700 (euro version of 4705) and i had the same problem last week. Install in RAM and all is OK with activation. It's a pain but the Reader works very well and supports VGA quite nicely.
Yes I had the same problem on my HX4700, i also get problems trying to view some of the ebooks.
I'm just trying the eReader software from eReader.com, much much better and you can get the same ebooks from fictionwise.com in the eReader format, you can ialso nstall the software on your SD or CF drives.
