From the guys who brought you Data on the Run...
A personal favorite for workout and diet tracking software on the PPC, Mobile Coach, has been updated to version 1.5. They're also running a special to celebrate the new version knocking the price down to $11.99!!
I know a lot of people (myself included) have tried and registered MySportTraining and that program is considered the standard for Pocket PC fitness software. I'm a registered user of MST as well but, for my own purposes, have found it too complicated and demanding to use over a long period of time. I don't mind planning my workouts but MST requires that you formulate your schedule a certain way and it takes a lot of maintenance to keep up-to-date. (Plus, Mobile Coach, which comes with a calorie counter and food planner, is a LOT cheaper... MST plus the food package is $31.90!)
IMHO, Mobile Coach is more flexible and somewhat easier to use for recording workouts. Anyway... here's what's been changed:
Quote:
Multiple users on the same device can now be tracked
New reports for aerobic distance
Support for Landscape and Windows Mobile 2003SE
Help integrated into the Pocket PC help table of contents
Bug fixes and other enhancements
They've got a 15 day trial version and a complete PDF manual over at the site. And $12 bucks... can't beat that with a stick. I can confirm that it works well in My_VGA resolutions to boot!! 8-)
I don't know if it will encourage you to workout or not... only your gut can do that.
But I do know that if you take your PPC to the gym you won't be using a lot of your time entering data or navigating through a lot of different screens to get your data recorded.
With Mobile Coach I enter my info as I move from one exercise to another and don't have to go through a whole reconfiguration if I decide to add or delete an exercise. But I'm a little lazy with the food part. There's no way to avoid it if you really want to track your diet but it's a pain nonetheless to record all that.... I guess I could just eat less... nahhh. :?
Thanks a lot for the info. I'm a registered user of MST for Palm OS, but never got MST for PPC installed on my T-Chinese iPAQ h4150. I've been waiting for Expose for several months, but still nothing. Before seeing this, I'm using the trial mode of MST for Win as a temp solution.
But after trying Mobile Coach, I think I've found the solution for my PPC. I don't care much on the food part, since most food I eat is not on the list (I live in Taiwan, mainly Chinese food). But for the workout record part, it works well! And the price is less than half of what MST for PPC is asking for. I'm so happy now...

Not to go off on a bash or anything but I do understand where you're coming from. I had a lot of problems getting MST to install on my old Casio e2000 (Japanese version). I exchanged several emails with the developer but it didn't solve the problem. A look at the registry showed that the entries for MST where under the name "Exposé" and that accented e was getting read as a garbage character by the Japanese OS.
I tipped off the developer and suggested he may want to at least change the registry names so that Far East PocketPCs would be able to easily use the program. You can get it to work but you have to hack the registry to do it and it still won't function well with the MST Food add-on.
The developer is a hard working guy and MST is a quality program. But that bug was one reason I bailed on the program.
Glad to know that I'm not the only suffering from this problem.
My case is worse then yours. I cannot even get it installed onto my PPC. They confirmed that it's caused by the special character in their company name, but did nothing to it. I'm glad you shared the info on Mobile Coach, so I can not only get a software that I want which works, but also at a significantly lower price.
