When I first read a blurb at Pocket PC Thoughts that Adobe Reader had been updated to 2.0 I thought "Well it's about blooming time!!! " :P I was running Adobe reader 1.0 on my old iPAQ 3635 four years ago! Well, my second thought was, what are the new features? Is it faster? Clearer? More stable?
Well, some of the features are looking good: "• Faster performance
• Mobile data entry: Submit form data using handheld devices over a wireless connection. If you are working offline, the data is temporarily stored, then submitted once a connection is established. Send forms by e-mail or directly to the destination server using a cradle or cable.
• Wireless printing: Print directly from a handheld device to a remote printer.*
• Slide show viewing: Easily share Adobe PDF slide shows generated by Adobe Photoshop® Album software on handheld devices in portrait or landscape mode.
• Downloading digital editions: Download digital editions of your favorite books in PDF format to handheld devices and read them anywhere. I would assume this means you can now buy DRM locked Reader ebooks from online retailers and read them on your Pocket PC. "
Looks cool so far, what do you all think?
From the image posted it looks like the formating STILL doesn't automatically take account of the smaller screen (see the scroll bars), I hate having to scroll back and forth when trying to read a document and trying to find a document that has been pre-formated for a PPC is like looking for fairy dust.
Why Adobe Reader doesn't have a fit to screen that is readable (e.g. not with miniscule text) I don't know, most other applications do nowadays .
I guess I'll stick with my third party work around.

I read elsewhere that it doesn't work on VGA or SE. I still have my e800 running in VGA and I'll never go back. I too was excited before I read this. I use it alot but not real stable. I am bummed about this whole deal. Makes me wish that Repligo was more widely used. The newest version reader is great. Hmmm.
I have a Nec MobilePro P300 with Pocket PC 2002 and the program doesn’t work. I can’t open any PDF file in my Pocket Pc. Every time that I try to open a file only show the splash screen and then its freeze and I have to do a soft reset. In the instructions they said that you need to transfer the files through the active sync, but it not works either.
13.6 MB???
I've downloaded it and its like 8.4MB!!!

It is huge ... also there are issues with the installation. Make sure you unistall version 1 first. Even when you do they are reporting a 40% failure rate and you have to regedit to remove parts of version 1.
oh yeah, i still had the old 1.0 installer on my computer.
What do I need to do to get it to work. It's not starting up for me.

I tried it last night and I'll say my first impression was it's horrible. Unless you are buying reflow formatted adobe ebooks from Amazon or something, I wouldn't waste my time
I switch to the spanish file to install the reader in my Pocket PC and it works, but only one time. If I close the application and try to start it again it dosen't work. I need to do a soft reset and the program is ready to work once again but only one time. I don´t know why Adobe make available a program with these problems like a finish product. In a Beta program you know that it will be some problems that it going to be solve in the time.
This piece of junk doesn't work at all.
Just like 1.0! Thanks Adobe!

Well
it seems pretty unanimous that Adobe Reader PPC 2.0 is CR@P.

I tried it again yesterday with a "reflow formatted" .PDF file and the results of this test....drum roll please....it looks just like 1.0
Well, there is one advantage I've found...it saves the place you were reading in your document when you close it. I think it's also slightly faster to launch.
Mainly I see this as being a "paid for" ebook reader upgrade. You should be able to download books from amazon now and be able to read them which is probably good since not all books are released in .LIT, some are Acrobat only.
Plus, I can't figure out why this reader has always faded bleached out text on the Pocket PC. What is the deal with that?
