deleting old partnerships?

Hello all, i know some of you think this is a rerun, but this question is a little different.
i dont want to delete old partnership, i was to find a way where i can try activesyn on my pc to think this is the same partnership as before.
what files or name or device_id makes it decide if thats that the same ppc?
is it the device_id on the ppc only?
if its something else that lets it know that this is the same, let me know what it is please.
thanks

If I understand you correctly, you are trying to use a new device with an old profile? If so, I don't know of a way to do that. I suppose you could hack the registry, but it will be a long arduous road and probably not so productive. Instead, backup the current profile and files, then delete it and just recreate it with the same name. Finally copy all the files back.

:)

well thanks for the quick reply.
but it is actually the same pda unit.
it just doesn’t recognize it as the old profile and thinks its a different one.
it happened after i sync'ed with another pc and put sync as server or something.

If you've rebooted your computer and soft reset your PPC and it still doesn't recognize the profile, IMHO you'll have to delete the profile from the desktop. When you resync odds are it will name the profile the same as the last and you'll just have to combine your appointments and tasks then delete the duplicates.
Anyone else? This is what I've always done when this happens.

AHHH...Ok, here's what you have to do. delete the partnership. then reseat the Pocket PC. When it says "do you want to create a partnership" say YES. Then when it says "will you sync with only one computer, say YES -- this is very important. You must set it to sync with only one computer to get sync with outlook to work. Then you can go back and sync with the other machine and say "sync with 2 computers" = yes
I know it's a hassle, but it is the only way I know to do it.
