connection manager setup help please

when trying to setup connection manager on my ipaq2215, the password sets itself to a much longer different password.
Any suggestions please

Hi Alex,
Just to make sure we're on the same page, which password screen are you viewing? There are about 3 different ones that come to my mind, but they all cover different settings so I don't want to tell you wrong.

I am going as follows:
Start>>Settings>>Connections>>Connections>>Add a new modem connection>>(My connection1 etc screen) Next>>(Phone # to dial) Next>> Screen for User name, password, Domain>>Finish
This is where I enter the password and when I check what's up (manage existing connection) I see there is 16 X * in the password box
can you advise pls

Oh, I see...
As an example...if you set your password as "Pass" it would be **** but when you return to that screen you see: ***************
right?
That is just a security precaution to prevent someone from knowing how many characters are in your password. If someone knew the number of characters you used, they could brute force attack it and find out your password.
