Last week I was forced to do a hard reset on my HP iPaq h5555. Since then I've been unable to get online via my wireless router. I've gone through the setup and to no avail. Originally I had no issues. Thinking this is a case of user error. Any suggestions of what I might be missing?
Details:
My router is a D-Link Wireless G
I have it locked with 128 encryption
I have it set NOT to broadcast the SID
I've entered the correct 26 character WEP repeatedly
The base station name has been entered correctly
The iPaq recognizes the wireless network but cannot get an IP address
In 'Settings' it says 'Connected'
In PocketWinc it gets the signal but will not connect
All wireless features are turned on
For some reason I suspect this is some oversight on my part. Any and all help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
I always have a problem if the SSID broadcast is turned off. Try turning it on and see if you can connect. You can try turning it off later if you want to.

Thanks for the reply.
Tried shutting down the SSID but no dice. Any other thoughts?
I have the same problem before...I've disabled all filtering/protection including ssid broadcast and start putiing back in one by one...Finally I've found that in my case the WEP was the problem. I off it and everything is OK...

Thanks for the suggestion, Korrok. Tried it and still no luck.
What to do...what to do...

Ok, so Mobilexile, you've indeed turned off all protection including wep, no broadcast of ssid, etc. etc. and it still doesn't work? I assume you've restarted your router too?
Hey Brad,
Thanks for the reply.
Yes, I've turned off the WEP encryption, restarted the router and performed a soft reset. Still no luck.
Ironically I just got off the phone with HP tech support. They ran me through a number of trouble shooting tips and I'm still unable to connect. So very odd. They've asked that I upgrade to a new WLAN driver. If that doesn't do the trick I need to briefly part ways with my beloved iPaq.
Thanks again, Brad.

I am happy to help. Do you have any other computers or devices attached that you can use to test your router?
P.S. Before I'd send my device back, I would back up and hard reset and try to connect to the router FIRST before restoring any backups or anything. It's possible that some secondary app is affecting the wlan drivers.
That's good advice, Brad. Thanks again.
I just tried the hard reset and I still cannot get an IP address. My one last effort will be the new WLAN drivers. All other system software is up-to-date so I'm hoping.
Will follow up.
Again, thanks.
